Oh Blessed 21st Century

I haven't had internet since Sunday, and went through SERIOUS withdrawals.  Luckily (after 6 phone calls and becoming very acquainted with Jess from HotSites), the internet people just fixed it :) Hallelujah!! Honestly, I don't know how people survived without technology.  Because if I can't check facebook every hour on the hour I become depressed.  I might need therapy.

Utah=Mormons

How do I know I live in Utah?
  • I get a gift card for an engagement ring on my doorstep
  • When the teacher asks what the mormons believe about self-agency and the whole class answers, "it's "Free" agency."
  • Bridal Fairs on campus
  • 50% of the people I pass are wearing an institute shirt
  • EVERYONE goes to see the Lion King in 3D
  • My hometeachers just walk into my apartment even though we had never met
  • A church speaker comes and we fill the Spectrum
Yep I live in Utah :)

We're So Crafty!

My roommate, Rebecca and I decided that our apartment was much too... blah.  So we took the initiative to set ourselves on a mission.  We traveled to Hobby Lobby and the Dollar Store to load up on supplies.  We then made these wonderful crafts:
The last one is a quote board where we will write all of the funny things we say.  We also picked up some Halloween decorations which we immediately put up, because a month and half ahead of time is SOO not too early.  I am so proud of us. :)

Awkward Moments

So yesterday and today, Kota and me have been ridiculously hiper.  We got to go to the play Annie for one of our classes.  It was full of laughing from making little jokes, walking up ALL the stairs to the cheap college students section, asking people to take our picture, and secretly taking pictures of the ushers that definitely had a love connection.

Then today, I was texting on my phone and totally tripped down a hidden a stair, practically slammed into some lady with my cart at Walmart, and had a freak attack complete with screaming and running around in the middle of campus when a bee got a sudden interest in me.

Oh sometimes I am so funny I scare myself.

Just in case you were thinking your mom is the best.  You're wrong.  Mine is.  This is some of the goodies I've received in the THREE packages I've gotten in three weeks I've been here.  Yay I'm loved :)

Happy Birthday Emme!

All of my roommates ditched out of the town this weekend so I made the executive decision to visit my aunt and uncle in Salt Lake.  I am incredibly proud of myself for navigating the highways both successfully and unharmed.  I only took the wrong exit once :).  Hey for an Idaho girl, that is AMAZING!  Anyways, it was my cousin's first birthday party.  It was adorable and Ses"Emme" Street themed.  I really loved getting to see my aunt, uncle and cousin, and having a break from school work. Hallelujah for weekends!!

Holy Cream of Chicken!

Today after class, I decided to be very productive.  I worked on homework, cleaned my toilet (Go ME!) and even made an actual dinner.  The goal:  tuna casserole.  Putting the casserole together consisted of asking my roommate how to use the can opener, asking my mom how to defrost peas, and pulling never before used pots out of my closet.  And when I started eating, ewwwww.  Turns out mom forgot to mention I needed cream of chicken soup when she gave me the recipe.  So I added it, and started eating again. ewwwwwww.  It was swimming in it.  Still I ate it, because I was determined to enjoy my first homemade meal.  Plus my roommates (who are excellent cooks) were watching me.  And I had to convince them that I wasn't an idiot.

Is Garbage Supposed to Sting?

A few days ago I was taking out the kitchen trash.  At the same time I was carrying a bunch of things to carry to my car like a pack mule.  Therefore, the heavy trash sack kept rubbing against my leg as I hobbled across the parking lot to the dumpster.  And each time it would swing, I felt a sharp stinging on my leg.  When I finally reached the dumpster, I discovered that there was a piece of glass in the sack cutting my leg with each stroke.
(Please ignore the nastiness of my leg.) BUT, this is after I wiped up the blood and stopped hyperventillating because I was afraid I'd get an infection.  New thing I learned at college:  Do not let the trash  bag rub on your leg :)

It's Udderly FANTASTIC!!

I came home for the lovely, long, Labor Day weekend :) And it went as follows:

Friday:
Trip to Twin to buy ballet shoes for Addison, and sturdy tennis shoes for me :)
Watching Soul Surfer as a family. (I LOOOOOVE Bethany Hamilton!)

Saturday:
We met the Jackson clan in Blackfoot for the Eastern Idaho State Fair where we saw:
 Giant Rabbits,

Tiny Horses,
Strange Star Wars Animals,
A creepy street performer who licked my hand,
a hypnotist,
and a lady with GIANT hair!!
We also got to experience:
Walking on Water
Becoming Natives
And STUFFING our faces with incredibly unhealthy food :)

Sunday:
Church at the home ward, dominating at Clue, watching Brother Bear, making cookies, and finding out my grandfather has turned into a biker.
But he let me drive the bike so it's all good :)

Monday:
Jet skiing, because I was determined even though it was FREEZING!!  This is Addison and me cruising the waves:
Finally, my mom loaded me down with food and sent me back to Logan.  I love my family and had a great weekend!!

WALMART!

This is the display at our local Walmart.  Obviously I live in a college town :)  I just wonder what they'll do when someone buys some of that pop and the A comes tumbling down.  Looks like a lawsuit to me.  But seriously, Walmart is my hero.  I have gone there at least 3 times in the few days that I have been here.  And it is always exciting.  Especially when my best friend Dakota accompanies me.  And who doesn't love the low prices and cheap quality Walmart provides?? Cuz I sure do :)  So shoutout to Wally for making my college experience endurable and afforable. (Maybe they'll hire me because of this post :P)
